Kristen L. Hagler BS (An. Phys.), RVT, VTS (Physical Rehabilitation), CCRP, CVPP, COCM, CBW
Kristen received her undergraduate degree at Sonoma State University (BS in Biology with a concentration in Animal Physiology) and passed the California Registered Veterinary Technician licensing examination in 2002. She then went on to the University of Tennessee’s Certificate Program in Canine Physical Rehabilitation and completed her certification in 2005. In 2017 Kristen was recognized as a Veterinary Technician Specialist (VTS) in Physical Rehabilitation. She is the only board recognized veterinary technician specialist in Physical Rehabilitation in California and serves as the current President of the Academy of Physical Rehabilitation Veterinary Technicians (APRVT).
To further enhance the veterinary physical rehabilitation training, Kristen has completed coursework in canine massage therapy through the Caninology® massage therapy program in 2009 and in 2012 completed coursework to become a Certified Osteoarthritis Case Manager (COCM) through the University of Tennessee's canine rehabilitation program as well as being awarded a Certified Veterinary Pain Practitioner (CVPP) through the International Veterinary Association of Pain Management. She is the past technician associate member liaison for the American Association of Rehabilitation Veterinarians.
Kristen maintains an active role in the community as well, providing continuing education lectures for colleagues and networking with local dog centered agencies. She has also volunteered her time at a local equine Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation center, Circle Oak Equine, in Petaluma for a few months and wishes she had more time to continue observing their expertise.
Kristen’s philosophy for every animal is to maintain core strength and physical conditioning to maintain long term health and longevity in the "job" they are performing. Her special interests within animal physical rehabilitation include stifle and elbow conditions, geriatrics, osteoarthritis, performance and working dogs and pain management (acute and chronic).
Outside of work, Kristen enjoys road biking, jogging, walks, watching volleyball/sports and being with her husband and children. She has a career change dog from Guide Dogs for the Blind, Inc. named Madrid and a cat named Fish.

Christine Carr
Veterinary Rehabilitation Assistant
Christine (Chris) has worked with Kristen for four years and has helped to build the rehabilitation department since moving to Windsor Animal Hospital. Chris is very involved in dog training and organizes the dog training classes at Windsor Animal Hospital hand-in-hand with the head trainer Connie Bartlett. Chris has a special knack with recognizing behavioral needs of animals, especially when they are anxious or in pain, which helps the rehabilitation team tremendously. In her free time Chris works in dog sports, agility, obedience, rally and enjoys showing her wonderful Border Terriers.
